I AM Ministry Introduces The Bible BEE!!!
January has vanished in the mist! But, God has been busy working in my life and in Cynthia’s, my wonderful wife of 33 years. We have been led by God to go full time in the Lay Ministry. We are selling out of our retail store in Highlands, NC in order to devote all of our time and energy into the I AM Ministries. We will be kicking off I AM Ministries by sponsoring three Bible Bees which is a new, local and national competition being put together by Dennis and Barbara Rainey at Family Life Today and the Shelby Kennedy Foundation. We will be sponsoring a local Bible Bee in the Highlands/Cashiers area of North Carolina, one in Franklin, North Carolina, and one in Clayton, Georgia. Over the next few weeks we will be launching a major effort in each of these three areas to build our Local Planning Committees (LPCs). The LPCs will consist of eight (8) volunteers which are:
- LPC Chairman
- Prayer Coordinator
- Publicity Coordinator
- Facilities Coordinator
- Volunteer Coordinator
- Logistics Coordinator
- Contestant Coordinator
- Fundraising Coordinator
On February 15, 2009 we will begin the contestant recruitment phase. We will be scouring the Churches, Schools, Home School Organizations, and anywhere else we think we might find ambitious, energetic young people that are interested in “Building Character…One Verse at a Time”.
There will be three age groups (Age 7-10, 11-14, and 15-18) competing in Local Competitions for the privilege of going to Washington DC this Fall to compete in the National Bible Bee Competition where 100 of each age group will compete for Grand Prizes of Scholarships for $100,000, $50,000, and $25,000 respectively, and many other prizes.
These young people will be memorizing scripture (Ps 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (NIV)), and learning Bible facts. Much like in a Spelling Bee, they will be quizzed on their ability to remember and recite this information.
If you live in the Highlands/Cashiers area of North Carolina, or in Franklin, North Carolina, or in Clayton, Georgia, please consider serving the youth of your community in one of these coordinator functions. Just contact us at iamsent@hotmail.com and let us know of your interest to help out.
