I AM. - One of the shortest grammatically correct sentences in the English language.
I AM. What a statement! What a claim!
Not, I was – past tense
Not, I will be - future tense
But I Am – Present tense – always present tense, from everlasting to everlasting. That is like from eternity past to eternity future. It was present tense when He said it to Moses and it is present tense today. From our perspective we could say "He Is"! In fact, in Revelation 1:8 Jesus said “I Am the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
I AM the Almighty!
Webster defines Almighty as all-powerful (omnipotent). That seems like a huge understatement when trying to describe my God. He is the creator of everything that has ever existed, everything that exists today, and everything that will exist in the future.
He knows everything (omniscient)! He knows everything that has ever been known in the past, everything that is known today, and everything that will ever be known in the future.
He is everywhere at the same time (omnipresent). Everywhere, what does that mean to you? Is He everywhere on Earth? Is He everywhere in the Universe?

- Jesus is The Great I AM. We have been asked by Jesus to tell everyone about Him.
- Sometimes it seems that we have lost sight of who God is – His might, His majesty, His justice, His mercy, His holiness. Instead, we seem to imagine Him as being on our level, yet nothing could be further from the truth.
- We address Him as we would address anyone else. Rarely do we follow the examples found in scripture when it comes to prayer. Listen to this picture of the apostle Paul’s view of God found in 1 Tim. 1:17; “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
- For the rest of Paul’s life, he lived in absolute awe that in Christ God had revealed the perfect picture of who He is. Somehow we seem to have lost sight of this, and it’s loss has deeply affected our ability to worship.
- What is worship?
- Worship is what caused Lucifer to sin and rebel against God. Lucifer became jealous of God because all of the Heavenly Host adored and worshipped Him. Lucifer wanted to be the one who received heaven’s adoration. He wanted all of heaven, including God, to bow down to him.
- In Matthew 4:9 we read, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me,” said Satan to the Son of God.
- To this day this same conflict rages on. Before whom will the heavens and earth bow? The real issue in worship is not if we will worship or how we will worship, but whom we will worship.
- Everyone will worship someone or something, it is built into the fiber of God’s creation. To worship God is to deliberately make the choice to love Him and to honor His will. To acknowledge Him every day and devote yourself to living in His perfect will. Is it really possible to live according to His perfect will? No, He tells us in 1 John 1:8 "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the Truth is not in us." So it is not possible to live perfectly in God's will. We will slip up, we will disappoint Him, we will sin. But Jesus paid the lawful punishment for all of our mistakes so we don't have to. We do, however, have to accept His suffering and death as the gift that pays the lawful penalty for all of our sins. We do have to believe, that Jesus was raised from the dead and He lives in Heaven today with His Father. He is there preparing a place for all of us who believe, to spend eternity with Him in a paradise that we cannot even begin to imagine.
